How long will it last?

The internal waterproofing provided by the Densifier™ is permanent. The glossy finish created by Densifier with Surface Gloss™ penetrates to below the surface so the concrete must wear away past the gloss. In heavy traffic, we estimate this will take about 2 to 5 years. In lighter traffic, it would probably take much longer.

 

How can a glossy finish be below the surface?

Densifier with Surface Gloss™ creates a light diffraction in the inside of the porosity. This causes light to reflect off the surface.

 

Will it peel off the surface?

No. There is no contiguous film or membrane.

 

When pressure washed, at what temperature will it break down?

Temperature will not be a factor. Care should be taken, however, since ultra high pressure washing can tear off the top of concrete, which would also tear away the glossy finish. Normal pressure washing does not pose a problem.

 

Have any accelerated tests been performed?

Densifier™ has been on the market since 1985 and we have extensive testing and numerous success stories for this product. The Surface Gloss is a relatively new addition and testing began last year in 1998. The product has performed consistently with the Densifier™ results and has maintained its glossy look to date. It is currently being used by a very large theme park in the Orlando, Florida area with excellent results, so look for this particular answer to be updated in the near future.
