EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Medium- to high-pressure airless sprayer equipped with a 24-inch wand and a .019 fan tip spray jet. (Note: when applying as a cure, use only medium pressure.)

HOW TO PREPARE FLOOR BEFORE APPLYING

  1. Completely remove old flooring.
  2. Clean and/or remove all glue, adhesives, paint, grout, and cementitious products. Some sealers, grouts, adhesives and floor preps may need removal with more aggressive procedures like strippers, pad strippers, beadblast, etc.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  4. Cover or protect windows, sliding doors, mirrors or any glass product that may come in contact with PARTS ONE or TWO before application, as these products are extremely difficult to remove.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Acclimate temperature and humidity for a period of 24 hours before performing calcium chloride tests. Floor must be at a minimum of 65°F before test is performed.
  2. Perform calcium chloride tests per manufacturer’s specification. (One test per 1000 sq. ft.)
  3. Dampen concrete with water, removing any excess puddles.
  4. Use medium- to high-pressure airless sprayer complete with a 24-inch wand and a .019 fan tip spray jet.
  5. Hold spray tip 6 inches from surface.
  6. Apply to the point of saturation at the rate of 200 square feet per gallon with an overlapping spray pattern of approximately 10% to 15%.
  7. Begin applying at the lowest level elevation. For example, walls and slopes should be applied side to side, from the bottom up.
  8. Areas of high porosity have a faster penetration rate. These areas appear dry immediately after spraying and will require additional product.
  9. Cure for 24 hours before performing next series of calcium chloride tests.
  10. If tests show higher moisture content than desired, follow Application Instructions for Moisture Content Over Six Pounds.
  11. Concrete surface must be dry and calcium chloride readings must be at or below 5 pounds before applying PART TWO.
  12. The PROTECRETE Floor Saver System is safe to use and environmentally friendly. We do recommend use of a painter’s mask during application. Refer to MSDS.

HOW TO APPLY AS A CURE

  1. Follow normal application instructions, except use a medium-pressure airless spray unit to avoid disturbing the top. For broom finished concrete that has not been allowed to harden, you may also use a non-atomizing spray apparatus such as a pump-tank sprayer.

  2. Apply to the newly placed surface as soon as is practical following surface finish.

  3. Apply at the rate of 150 to 200 square feet per gallon for broom finished concrete; 300 to 350 square feet per gallon on hard or steel troweled concrete.
