PROTECRETE Floor Saver SystemŽ Product Information Sheet

Finally! A system that stops moisture-related floor failures. The Floor Saver SystemŽ from Finally! A system that stops moisture-related floor failures. The Floor Saver SystemŽ from PROTECRETE is a two-part system that will actually push excessive moisture out of the concrete and seal the concrete from the inside out. This removes the moisture that causes adhesives to dissolve and flooring to buckle and discolor.

Also, the Floor Saver SystemŽ balances the slab’s pH level to stop another cause of adhesive failure: high pH imbalances.

Once the Floor Saver SystemŽ has been applied, you can install your flooring and move on to the next floor without looking back. No more callbacks from angry customers. No more worrying about whether or not the flooring will fail. You’ll know that your floor has the best protection money can buy.

Step 1: Waterproof
Part One of the PROTECRETE Floor Saver SystemŽ waterproofs the concrete from the inside out. This revolutionary product penetrates the concrete slab to depths of up to 6 inches or more and creates a 100% solid colloidal gel that permanently seals the concrete against water intrusion.

Even under the most severe conditions like hydrostatic pressure, moisture will not enter the concrete slab. The concrete slab will become so dense and so tight, that moisture levels will be reduced to acceptable levels.

Part One is what balances the pH levels, giving added life to the adhesive you choose.

Step 2: Seal
Part Two of the PROTECRETE Floor Saver SystemŽ forms a breathable membrane over the concrete floor that further limits the moisture vapor transmission process. The membrane becomes incredibly hard yet retains elastomeric properties between 100%
and 300%. This means it doesn’t get brittle or eventually dissolved in water (or chemicals contained in your adhesive).

Part Two has excellent bonding qualities. When the Floor Saver SystemŽ is properly installed, calcium chloride test readings will be at levels of most (if not all) flooring manufacturers’ specifications. Protection of the floor will continue through the life of the concrete slab.

Other important things you’ll benefit from
Both parts of the PROTECRETE Floor Saver SystemŽ are extremely easy to use. And they’re safe to apply since there are no fumes. In fact, both parts are completely odorless and completely non-toxic. This makes the system perfect for projects involving food service and hospitals or those requiring a safe environment for children or pets.

How to Use
Before applying Part One, prepare the floor according to the label directions. This includes removing anything on the surface of the concrete such as adhesives, grout or sealers.

Next, prepare the area around the installation, like doors, windows and cabinetry. The Floor Saver SystemŽ adheres tenaciously to most surfaces it comes in contact with and is nearly impossible to remove once it dries.

After that, calcium chloride readings must be taken in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Applying Part One
Once all of the above has been accomplished, Part One should be applied in accordance with label instructions. Use a medium- to high-pressure airless paint spray unit complete with fan spray nozzle (suggested tip size of .019) and apply at the rate of 200 square feet per gallon for most concrete. Begin applying at the lowest level elevation; that is, walls and slopes should be applied from the bottom up with spray patterns overlapping 10 to 15 percent.

If Using On Green (Not Yet Hardened) Concrete . . .
Part One may be applied using a low- pressure, non-atomizing spray apparatus, such as a pump-tank sprayer, a mechanical cure/slurry pump or a medium-pressure airless spray unit.

It should be applied to the newly poured concrete surface as soon as is practical following surface finishing. If you have to walk on the surface to apply the product, allow the concrete time to adequately harden so you won’t imprint or mar the surface while applying. Our recommended coverage rate as a cure method is 200 square feet per gallon with patterns overlapping 10 to 15 percent.

Applying Part Two
After insuring that the calcium chloride readings are 8 pounds or less and that the flooring contractor is satisfied, Part Two may be applied over Part One (in accordance with label directions).

Part Two can be applied with a dense medium-nap paint roller or a squeegee, evenly at the rate of 350 to 400 square feet per gallon. It should be applied using overlapping patterns of north and south, east and west strokes.

Part Two must be given adequate time to dry and harden before performing the final calcium chloride tests and can be considered dry when no longer tacky to the touch. This normally takes from 24 to 48 hours.

For slabs with unusually high moisture, see our publication called "Application Instructions for Moisture Content Over 6 Pounds."
