This job didn’t have anything going for it. Although the specifications called for 564 pounds of portland cement, the project received only 470 pounds. An extra 200 pounds of sand was added to the mix, and the concrete was slumped from 5 to 10 inches.

To make matters worse, they were working on a very loose base. The transit mixer trucks were sinking to their axles when delivering their loads.

Fortunately, though, they were using Mix Water Conditioner. Even though they didn’t use a 6-bag mix or maximum slump of 5 inches, compressive strengths were still exceeded. The design was 4000 psi, yet even the concrete with the 10-inch slump reached 3480 psi at 7 days and 5420 psi at 28 days.

For the exterior concrete, 611 pounds of portland were used in a mix without Mix Water Conditioner. Its compressive strengths lagged behind the 470-pound mix which included the Mix Water Conditioner.
